is my child ready for private lessons?

As a music teacher of 5 years now, I have come to the conclusion that the best age to start any private lessons is around the ages 4 + 5. If you feel as though your child is interested in music, would be able to sit through a 30 minute lesson, and be engaged through out most of the lesson…then they are probably ready for 1 on 1 lessons. Obviously there will be moments where children struggle to focus and that is totally expected! As an adult, I still struggle to focus at moments. I think the biggest clue to see if your child is ready for lessons is their interest in learning an instrument!
